We tried out some wild camping near by to our home town of Eastbourne!
We are very lucky to be on the edge of the South Downs and right next to Beachy Head so we took the opportunity to spend the night (probably the last wamr-ish night of the year) sleeping at the bottom of the downs.
We had two sleeping bags and bivvy bags, no food and just one bottle of water.
Atrhur (who is 4 at this time) had a pretty good time, the three of us first went to Beachy Head pub for dinner (cheating a bit but good to avoid carrying food) and then headed out at about 9:30.
We found a spot to settle down and then had to move a few times due to dog walkers, we didn't want to go too far the furst time we tried it but this did mean we bumped into more people as it's quite a well used area even late into the evening!
The night was uneventful, no badgers or foxes to be seen anywhere, it was very quiet on the whole.
I work up quite early and watched the ferries slowly making their way in and out of Newhaven Harbour until the sun started to rise into the clouds.
We'd definitely do this again but next time in a much more remote area.
