A full english and coffee at The Bell (Arthur has croissant with his butter) and we are off south to Robertsbridge via Etchingham.
The route starts east just outside Ticehurst, a rainy night and morning means Arthur is in the carrier most of today, we start out and spend a good 10 minutes trying to avoid being splashed by cars.
Turning south we head into fields which last a good hour, lovely views but very muddy and lots of grazing sheep and electric fences!
Past Chesnutfield wood we do our best to navigate the dissapearing signs, our brains working overtime to pattern match the landscape to the map and not inadvertantly wind up at a dead end. We do of course take a few wrong turns but wind up in the right place, one wrong turn lead us down a hill only to have to retrace all the way back up.
Hear we get Arthur out to let him do some running, the rain has stopped and the path is gravelled, he falls over and cuts his hand, we do our best try and fix him up, Tanya uses her first aid training to make sure he's well looked after.
The path continues through Kitchingham farm and then up to Sheepstreet Lane, this is a lovely moment with an increasingly forboding sky threatening rain and a deeply green and dark small lane just matching perfectly.
We turn right and head west along the lane about 100 meters and then turn south along the edge of Foxhole wood, as we emerge we find a nice log to sit on for lunch with the trains keeping us company as they speed up and down the train occasionally.
I aquire a nice stick which helps immensely with getting over styles when carrying Arthur, it's sitting downstairs waiting for it's next outing.
Over the track (again) and then direct east along the track into Etchingham, we get some nice juice and chocolate to keep us going and head the wrong way in all the enthusiasm.
Rather than turning back we continue on the new route and walk up Oxenbridge Lane and then connect back with the original route at Squibs farm.
Down and then up and then down and then up, this last stretch was quite an effort, we meet some donkeys. cross the track (again) and then make our way into Robertsbridge where we meet Angel who lets us into our flat for the night Robertsbridge Retreat at Cornhill.
We've stayed here before, it's self catering and has everything you might need, we cook for ourselves this evening as Arthur enjoys watching some cartoons, Tanya watches more of her course and I look at the route for tomorrow.
