On Saturday we travelled over to Saltdean to visit my parents. Arthurs Grandpa was doing a gig that evening and we were invited to come and see his band play.
We started our walk at around 11am, leaving Wicklands Avenue after a nights sleep in front of the log fire. We're straight up onto Tye with Arthur in the back carrier and a light packed lunch.
At the top of the Tye we walk down the road into Telscombe and back up out again, it;s a very small village with a YHA and a church. For us this is the main route out of Saltdean, up the road leads towards Rodmell and Southease, along the footpath by the church leads to Pidding Hoe and Newhaven.
Today we are going to Lewes so up the road and then cut down the field before it veers to the right, once at the bottonm the field we turn right and walk along Cricketing Bottom to a wonderful working farm probably my favorite farm.
We found a beautiful Ford Capri at the farm sitting happily in the sun, one day I shall a) be able to drive and b) own a white Ford Capri 2.8 Laser with red racing stripe :)
Past the farm we head up the very steep Mill Hill (followed by cyclists and met by DofE groups), at the top we then stroll down the road on the other side into Rodmell.
Monk's House is well worth the visit regardless of whether you're a Virginia Woolf fan, both the garden and interior is beautiful.
Down through Rodmell, past the carpark and out onto the Brooks reserve.
We followed the footpath towards the Ouse through the marsh land, lovely little streams run along the paths directing you to the river we decided to stop for lunch here.

Once we reached the Ouse it's a simple walk up the river to Lewes, it's a reasonably well used river by all forms of life, we saw ducks, swans and motor boats :)
By 2:30 we were in Lewes (roughly 3 hour walk with Arthur staying the carrier and half an hour for lunch), I was in desperate need of sitting down so after 10 minutes spent looking for a child friendly pub we gave up and sat outside Bills, I had a couple of ice cold Bill's Beers and Tanya opted for mini doughnuts.
If anyone knows of a pub with a garden and space for children in Lewes please let us know!
Train back to Eastbourne for 4pm.
